Benjamin A. Olvera Sr

On February 11, 2022 Benjamin Abel Olvera Sr. passed away at the age of 74.  Benjamin was born on August 29, 1947.  He graduated from Reedley High School, Reedley Junior College and attended San Diego State University.  He settled in San Diego, CA where he worked in Auto sales and management for over 30 years.  He married his wife Michelle (Takusagawa) on April 12, 1969. They raised two sons, Benjamin Olvera Jr. and Ethan Olvera.

Ben loved to sing, accompanying himself with his guitar and reminiscing the days he played in a band with his two best friends, David Barsoom and Paul Buxman.  Ben loved to camp, hike, snow and water ski. He was an excellent water skier and loved boating in general.  He always had a good joke and quick wit.  His compassion for humanity was only surpassed by his love for his family and friends.

Ben was preceded in death by his father, Nicholas, his mother, Margaret, brothers George and Joe.  He is survived by his wife Michelle, sons Benjamin and Ethan, sister Ramona, brothers Nick Jr. and Carlos, grandchildren Vance, Joya, Xaiemian, and Bryce along with numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday,  March 12th at the Dopkins Reedley Funeral Chapel.  Open casket from 9:00-10:00 AM.  Memorial Remembrance will be at 10:00 AM.

Guestbook

I was a RHS classmate of Benny's, class of 1965,
Go Pirates!
Remember Benny, David & Paul playing in the band. Think Janice B, Marian S, Donna K & I sang with all of them for the senior class assembly. We were all close friends. Great high school days. Much fun & laughter in & out of class.
So sorry I missed his service. I would have definitely been there since I live in the area. I just became aware of his obituary today.
My heart goes out to Michelle & family. Again, so sorry I wasnt there to see you & Julia in person. It's been a lifetime ago, but high school friends & times stay in your heart forever. I can still hear his laugh, & picture his warm smile & dancing eyes..... just as I can still see a teenage Benny & Michelle walking down the hall, arm in arm, in Main Building.
Rest in peace, Benny, my friend. Wish I had been there to say goodbye.
