Darrell Gene SegarsDarrell Segars was born in Reedley to Guy and Merle Segars. He passed away peacefully at Heritage Crossings Care Center in Clovis after a lengthy battle with Lewy Body Disease. He was married to Maurine Geiser Segars. Darrel was a loving husband, brother, father and grandfather. Darrell grew up in Orange Cove. He was a graduate of Reedley High School and Reedley College. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Fresno State in Industrial Arts. Darrell had a passion for airplanes and cars. It was his dream to become a pilot. He received his first pilot’s license while attending Reedley College. His first solo flight was put of the Reedley Airport. In 1975, Darrell began his career with United Airlines. He retired from United in 2010 after 35 years of service. During his tenure with United, he received recognition for his outstanding service and leadership. In retirement, Darrell enjoyed working on his 1928 Model A Ford, his 1956 Chevrolet Belair and played golf. He was a member of both the Blossom Trail Model A Club and the Nomads of Reedley. Family was a priority to Darrell. He was proud of his two children, Jason and Melissa. His two grandsons, Oliver and Eli, were his pride and joy. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Merle Segars. He is survived by his wife, Maurine Geiser Segars; his son, Jason Segars and his fiancé, Ashley Pistol; his daughter, Melissa Hill and her husband, Brian; two grandsons, his sister, Janice Looper; and a sister-in-law, Diane Geiser. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 5, 2020, at Dopkins Reedley Funeral Chapel, 2200 S. Reed Ave. Interment will be at Reedley Cemetery. Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made to The Heritage Crossing Fund, 2792 E. Alluvial Ave., Clovis, CA 93611.
