Elva Villegas

Elva Villegas, age 94, passed away February 18th, in Fresno, CA. Born in Texas, Elva spent part of her life in Mexico where she was a schoolteacher, telephone switch operator, and later a small business owner with her husband Rafael, who preceded her in death. The family moved to Reedley, CA in the 1960’s. She dedicated herself to the raising of four children, but also worked many summers in the local fruit packing industry before retiring.

Elva was highly skilled at sewing, embroidery, and crochet. Via this passion of hers she created many amazing pieces that she shared with family and friends.  Elva always had a positive outlook and encouraged all her children and grandchildrento work hard to achieve goals and to seek higher education. She was extremely proud of their successes, and her energy and love were a positive influence on them all.

The Villegas family encourages all who knew and whose lives were touched by Elva to live life with her positive spirit, and “ponte bonita” every day.

The Villegas family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, concern and kindness shown to them during this hour of bereavement.

My Mom Elva was the most loving and caring person I have ever known. She loved her family unconditionally. While growing up I don\'t remember my mom ever telling me or my siblings anything negative. She always encouraged us to excel in school and pursue higher education.
I owe my Mom something that can\'t be repaid, I was blessed that she was able to take care of my two sons Jesse and Thomas while they were growing up. She loved and took care of them all her life. Her positive influence and love are a part of them for the rest of their lives.
For the last 10 years or so I would go to my mom\'s house every Sunday to take her the Fresno Bee, which she would love to read page by page and of course go through the ads. I would also bring a sausage muffin or may some of Christine\'s famous brownies and chocolate chip cookies. We would talk and I would make sure she was ok. I am grateful that I was able to take care of my mom and I miss her dearly.
I want to thank my wife Christine, my sons Jesse and Thomas, my brother Rafael and my two sisters Miriam and Letty for always being there for our Mom
