Emily ArmijoEmily "Patricia" Armijo peacefully passed away on June 8th, 2021 at her home in Dinuba, CA. Emily spent the latter decades of her life in California with her loving husband, Fred Armijo whom she shared 49 years married and 52 wonderful years with. Emily was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on November 4, 1927, to Piedad and Daniel Tafoya. She was the proud great niece of the late Dennis Chavez, Democratic Senator of New Mexico. She and her husband, Fred, were transferred from Albuquerque to Clovis, New Mexico where they lived for 25 years. Emily and her husband were then transferred to California where they ultimately retired and she lived out her life for the last 20+ years. Through the years she loved gathering with family and friends at the Visalia Senior Citizen Center. She is survived by her husband, Fred Armijo; her son Billy George Otero, her daughter-in-law Marry Francis Otero; her daughter Joanne Otero; her daughter Paddie Eichenberger; her son-in-law Jerry Eichenberger; her granddaughter Renee Otero; her granddaughter Chrystee Armijo; her grandson Isaiah Otero, her great grandchildren Diego Santos, Jono Santos, Julian Santos, Saxon Armijo, and Kastle Sena. She was predeceased by her mother, Piedad Tafoya; her father, Daniel Tafoya; her two sisters Louise Gonzales and baby Rosie Tafoya; four brothers, Don Tafoya, Tony Tafoya, Bobby Tafoya, and Raymond Tafoya; her grandsons, baby George Otero and Guillermo Otero; and her loving dog, Sijba. Emily was a family woman who devoted her life to raising her family in the best ways that she could. She was known for being confident and headstrong and she passed those qualities on to her children and grandchildren. She was also a devoted Catholic, who attended church mass on most Sundays up until the point where she could no longer attend due to her declining health. She always found the time to pray her rosary daily for her loved ones and made sure to let her family know that she was watching over them. Emily was a traditionalist and practiced keeping family recipes alive by cooking and baking the food that she grew up with for her own family, who will one day do the same. She always sought opportunities to give what little she had for her family because she put their happiness above her own. Her presence was always treasured and she will be deeply missed by her family as well as those who had the opportunity to know her. A rosary will be recited at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 25, followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.
