Farris Joseph Lawand

Farris Lawand, Jr, age 83 of Reedley, CA passed away on February 16, 2022 in Selma, CA. Farris was born in Reedley September 7, 1938 to Farris and Beatrice Lawand. He attended Mt Olive and Smith Mountain Grammar Schools in Reedley and graduated from Reedley High School. He followed by enlisting in the Navy where he served four years before being honorably discharged.

 

Farris moved to San Jose, married and had a daughter. After divorcing he graduated from San Jose State with a Bachelor of Arts degree and received his master's degree in Industrial Education. Farris then met and married his lifelong sweetheart, Connie Schreiber, and moved back to Reedley where he received his master's degree in Administration.

 

During his lifetime Farris was a jack of all trades with his most notable work history consisting of police officer for the City of Orange Cove, employee of Gerawan Farming, owner/operator of a drilling company, principal of St. La Salle School, and retiree from the CTFA.

 

Farris loved traveling to many countries with Connie, pursuing the fastest racehorses, playing Cribbage, reading, cooking and hosting some great parties for family and friends. Farris never met a stranger and was always willing to open his home to anyone in need. Farris loved people and lived his life to the fullest. He was a great man who will be dearly missed, but his memory will live on in those that knew and loved him.

 

Farris is survived by his daughter, Samantha Wyant (Steve), stepdaughter, Carrie Arata (David) and grandchildren Peyten Wyant, Jared Kirsh, and Amy Schreiber.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Farris and Beatrice Lawand, wife of 47 years Connie Schreiber Lawand, brother Jay Lawand, stepson Grant Schreiber and grandson Daniel Vargas.

 

Services for Farris will be held at a later date.
