Harvey Bailey was born on August 21, 1937 in Santa Cruz, CA to David and Dorothy Bailey. He moved as
an infant to Orange Cove, CA where he resided for the remainder of his 85 years. He died at Reedley Hospital with his family at his side.
He was a farmer from a young boy until his last breath. He partnered with his father, uncle, and brother in Chase and Bailey, Bailey Brothers and Experienced Care.
His passions were family, farming, flying and valley water issues. As a young teenager; he saw the first water come down the Friant Kern Canal.
He was a founding member of California Citrus Mutual and the Family Farm Alliance. He served on the board of the Friant Water Authority and Orange Cove Irrigation District for many years. The Orange Cove Lions Club will miss him as a member. Harvey was an honest, caring, and fair man. He was admired by his grandchildren for his example of how to work hard and treat others with respect. He is survived by his wife and partner of 65 years, Judy Bailey. He always said, “We are in this together!”. They had wonderful adventures with longtime friends and have felt the loss of many of these friends over the last few years.

His surviving family includes daughters Kim Soares and husband Mark and Peggy Cochran and husband Richard. Two grandchildren Alex Soares and wife Elizabeth and granddaughter Caitlin Cochran. One great-grandson David. He is also survived by his brother Lee Bailey and wife Bobbie, nephews Lee Bailey Jr, Kirk Bailey, Eric Bailey, and wife Sarah.
