Jennie Ceballos

Jennie Ceballos, a long-time resident of Dinuba was called home to be with the Lord on July 17, 2022. She was the third of six beautiful daughters born to Enrique and Pascuala Velasquez.

Jennie was born in Fresno, CA on May 15, 1937. After graduating from Sanger High School, she began her long-time career in retail sales in downtown Fresno. In 1961, Jennie married Sammy Ceballos, from Dinuba. Jennie went on to work at various retail stores after she moved to Dinuba. She was a store manager at Cornett’s for a few years, later leaving to spend many years working at Farmer’s Market as a cashier, leaving to return to retail sales at Sandy’s Stationary & Office Supply. Jennie never forgot the dear friends she made while working with the public for many years.

Jennie and Sammy were blessed with two children, Cindy and Greg. Jennie cheered loudly for Greg during his Little League baseball days and was pleased to go with Cindy to pageant rehearsals in Visalia. She and Sammy enjoyed attending DUHS sporting events to watch Greg play sports and Cindy dance as a song leader.

Jennie was an extremely proud grandmother to five granddaughters and three great grandsons. The happiest times of her life were doting on each of them. She taught the girls to cook her famous Spanish rice. She was an excellent cook and beamed with pride when her “girls” devoured Grandma’s home cooking, nothing made her happier. She enjoyed watching The Bachelor and would love talking to her granddaughters about who would get the last rose. She had several word search puzzles and seldom missed her game shows. After retirement, Jennie and Sam loved to spend time at the beach in Cayucos and Pismo with their granddaughters.

Jennie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, Sammy, her sisters Connie Serbera, Terry Garibay, Polly Diaz, Trina Federico and her granddaughter, Jacqueline Gaston.

Jennie will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Cindy Ceballos Leighninger of Visalia, her son, Greg Ceballos (Rose) of Dinuba, granddaughters, Liana Leighninger and Ava Leighninger of Visalia, Patti Ceballos and Samantha Ceballos of Dinuba, great grandsons, Samuel Ceballos, Noah Vega, Christopher Falcon, her sister Ruth Romero (Joe) of Fresno and extended family in Fresno and Dinuba.

Visitation and Rosary will be on Monday, August 1, 2022 from 3-7pm at Dopkins Funeral Chapel, 189 S J Street, Dinuba, CA. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, 356 N Villa, Dinuba CA. Burial will be at Smith Mountain Cemetery.
