J.W. Lowrance Jr.

July 1, 1935 — September 24, 2021

JW (Jay) Lowrance, Jr. was born in Ralls, TX July 1, 1935 and passed away in Reedley, CA September 24, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Myrna, two sons, a grandson, a sister, a niece and a nephew. He had many friends throughout California and Idaho.

Jay served in the Army as a medic at Fort Ord, CA and in Germany from 1954 to 1957. In 1960 he joined the Air Force also as a medic.

He was a bowling center manager for 37 years. He and his wife worked together in the bowling industry in Hollister, CA, Santa Maria, CA, Paradise, CA and Kaneohe, HI. Jay was a top rated bowling promoter, hosting many PBA (Professional Bowling Association) tournaments and events. Jay was a very accomplished bowler carrying a 200+ average for many years. He also bowled 8 perfect 300 games.

And what a fisherman!...He went on many fishing trips to the Eastern Sierra Lakes and rivers. He also loved to play golf along with his son Greg for several years.

He and Myrna retired to Big Pine, CA and then to Idaho before returning to Reedley in 2015. He was a resident of Palm Village nursing home for several months before his passing following a prolonged illness.

His ashes will be interred at California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery at Fort Ord with military honors October 26, 2021 at 11:00 AM.

He will be missed....He was a bright spirit to us all.
