Kimiye Tanizaki

January 21, 1924 — June 25, 2021

Kimiye Tanizaki passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021, at the Heritage Crossing Hospice in Fresno, CA. She was born on January 21, 1924, in Fresno, CA, the only child to Issaku Tsuneta and Itsuno Dembira Tsuneta. They lived and farmed in Munson, CA. She attended and graduated from Dinuba High School. Kimiye and her parents were relocated to Poston, AZ, internment Camp 4. After a year, they moved to Brigham City, UT. Kimiye attended Business College in Ogden, UT. The family decided to move to Reedley, CA, to farm. Kimiye married Masao Tanizaki on June 6, 1947. They had a daughter Michiko Catherine who was delivered by the same midwife in Fresno as Kimiye. Kimiye and Masao farmed vegetables, grapes, and orchards in Reedley. They worked side by side and were married for 33 years until Masao passed away from an aneurysm in 1981. Kimiye continued to farm and care for her mother. Kimiye was a member of both the Dinuba and Reedley Buddhist Churches. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, knitting, doing ceramics, and embroidery work. She enjoyed getting together with girlfriends for potlucks and wanted to make friends happy. She was always kind, thoughtful, and considerate of everyone. She loved animals; dogs and cats were always on the ranch, and she could never turn away a stray. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her daughter, Michiko Cathy Zachry and nieces Marlene (John) Beckman and Kelly Tanizaki, nephew Steve Tanizaki, step grandsons Mike and David Zachry, and many cousins. The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Crossing Hospice for the exceptional care provided.
