Nancy Joan McKittrick

April 24, 1940 — November 28, 2022

Nancy J. McKittrick, 82, of Dinuba, CA passed away November 28, 2022 after a brief illness.  Nancy was born April 24, 1940 to Arch and LaFaun Christopher in Hugoton, KS.

She was first a teacher and then a counselor at Dinuba High School from 1964 until retiring in 1996.  During that time, Nancy also served as coach to the cheerleading squads and supported the Kiwana/Key Clubs.  She was an active member of the Dinuba Kiwanis Club for 34 years, serving as Lieutenant Governor from 2006 – 2007.  Nancy also served on the Dinuba Unified School District Board for a time and was named Dinuba’s Senior Citizen of the Year for 2008.   She was a devoted congregant of the Palm United Methodist Church for many years.  Nancy lived a life of service to both her Dinuba community and her church.

She was married to her husband, Terry, for 57 years and the two were inseparable until Terry went into Dinuba Health Care about 8 years ago, where she faithfully visited him.

Nancy was a curious and friendly person, enjoyed watching baseball games and Hallmark movies, loved her family, friends and God.  She also had a love of musical theater and a keen sense of humor.

During the COVID pandemic, Nancy made a “pandemic resolution” to call people on their birthdays as a way to stay connected.  This included family, friends, fellow churchgoers and members of civic organizations she belonged to.  The calls were very well-received and allowed Nancy to reconnect with many people from her past.  This resolution was featured in the August/September 2021 issue of Guideposts after she shared it with them.  We will all miss those calls!

Nancy is survived by her husband, Dr. Joseph T. McKittrick (Terry); her daughters Kristina Ek of Carlsbad, CA and Michele Gary (Reese) of Pilot Hill, CA; her son Chris McKittrick of Los Angeles, CA; her brother Jim Christopher (JoAnn) of Strasburg, CO and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her brothers Jon and Doug Christopher.  A memorial service will be held at Palm United Methodist Church in Dinuba, CA on January 28, 2023 at 11:00 am. Face masks will be required.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Open Gate Ministries, 511 North “K” Street, Dinuba, CA  93618.

Nancy was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
