Pilar Costilla

Pilar Costilla went to be with the Lord on September 6th, 2021, at the age of 91. Pilar Costilla was a self-made businessman and worked until the very end.

He was born to Ricardo and Rosa Costilla on August 22nd, 1930, in Carrizo Springs, Texas. As a child, Pilar always showed a hard work ethic as he had many years of working in fields across Texas, Washington, Oregon and finally making Orange Cove, CA his final stop. He saw a true future in the town where he could achieve his dreams to become a businessman. Pilar had ventured into small businesses such as a record shop, photography store, and restaurant, with the success of those businesses he wanted to expand even more to his community by opening a billiard room where people could gather alongside his family and enjoy each other's company whether it's playing a game of pool or dancing the night away. Tudie's Billiards ended up being his best achievement and with that, he knew he had fulfilled one of his lifelong dreams.

Pilar met the love of his life, Adelfina Martinez, on a Texas ranch while his stubborn horse gave out on him and he ended up having to pull it the rest of the way. It seemed to be fate that they crossed each other's path, as it was love at first sight. Throughout their beautiful 59 years of marriage, she was always right by his side to support him, from being a bookkeeper to a full-time mother to their 5 boys, she made sure she helped achieve his dreams and business efforts every step of the way. As well as, making time for him to enjoy being a husband, father, brother, tio, and grandfather. With their endless love, he finally gets to be reunited with his beautiful beloved wife and their two sons Mike Costilla, Arturo Costilla and his Grandson Louie Costilla.

He is survived by his 3 sons Guadalupe Costilla, Luis Costilla, Jesse Costilla, 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Pilar will be honored at Dopkins Reedley Funeral Chapel on September 22nd, 2021 with viewing hours from 4 pm -7 pm with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on September 23rd, 2021 at 10:00 am, at St. Isidore the Farmer Church in Orange Cove. Following with a burial service at Smith Mountain Cemetery.
