On January 4, 2023, Robert Lee Canales, 71, of Dinuba, California passed away quietly.
Robert, also known by his colleagues as “Bobby”, “Bob” and “Watch Commander”, was born in Delano California, the eldest son to parents Anselmo and Arnestina Canales of Pixley California, survived by his siblings Steven Canales, Theresa Clayton, and Betty Hurd.
Robert is survived by his wife of 45 years Jennifer Canales, sons Dack Canales and wife Hope, Michael Canales and wife Becky and youngest son Derek Canales.
He was forever grateful for the time he had with his amazing grandchildren, Blair, Cheyenne, Christopher, Summer, Ashley, and Andrew. And even more amazed he got to meet and spend time with his Great Grandchildren, Osiris Canales, Kieyah, Noah, Eliana Vargas, and Dakota Jayne.
Robert served Honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1969 – 1972. After which he attended College of the Sequoias and received his Associates Degree. Going on to complete training at the Police Officers Academy. Worked as a Reserve Officer for Woodlake Police Department from 1977 -1978. Was hired as full-time officer for Dinuba PD in 1978, retiring in 2006, as Sergeant. During his time as Sergeant, he was instrumental in starting the Police Volunteer program within the department. After he retired, he finished his career as an active Police Volunteer to complete a total of 44 years of service to the City of Dinuba.
Robert also donated his time as a Dinuba Youth Sports Coach and Cub Scout Master, He was a devoted Husband, Father, and Friend to a great many people.
